It's common for students to sometimes develop gaps in their foundational learning. For older children, missing crucial KS1 building blocks in subjects like phonics or basic numeracy can lead to frustration, a lack of confidence, and increased anxiety.

Phonics: Unlocking reading by understanding letter sounds and how they form words. 

Reading Comprehension: Developing the ability to understand and interpret texts.

Basic Numeracy: Understanding number bonds, place value, addition and subtraction.

For example, knowing 'number bonds' like 2+8=10 and 3+7=10 allows for quick mental calculations, such as solving '22 + ? = 30' by knowing that 22 needs 8 to reach 30. 

Early Writing Skills: Understanding sentence structure, punctuation, and grammar.
