Learning journeys aren't always straightforward. I am passionate about providing targeted, compassionate support for older students (Years 5, 6, and early secondary) who are working at a Key Stage 1 (KS1) primary level. It's common for students to sometimes develop gaps in their foundational learning. For older children, missing crucial KS1 building blocks in subjects like phonics or basic numeracy can lead to frustration, a lack of confidence, and increased anxiety.
Without a strong base, catching up can feel overwhelming. I create a supportive, non-pressured environment where learners can thrive. To make tutoring as convenient as possible for busy families, I provide expert primary tuition in the comfort of your home or at a quiet local library.
My approach:
Patient.
Respectful.
Assess specific needs to identify exact learning gaps.
Develop a learning plan that focuses on the KS1 skills.
Focus on Understanding and grasping concepts.
Celebrate small victories and effort.
For older students working at a KS1 primary level, my tuition covers skills including:
Phonics: Unlocking reading by understanding letter sounds and how they form words.
Reading Comprehension: Developing the ability to understand and interpret texts.
Basic Numeracy: Understanding number bonds, place value, addition and subtraction.
For example, knowing 'number bonds' like 2+8=10 and 3+7=10 allows for quick mental calculations, such as solving '22 + ? = 30' by knowing that 22 needs 8 to reach 30.
Early Writing Skills: Understanding sentence structure, punctuation, and grammar.
