Who is tutoring for?
Tutoring is designed for children working at primary level, including learners who benefit from gentle, SEN‑friendly support. Sessions are adapted to suit your child’s pace, interests, and communication style.
I use a calm, nurturing teaching style that focuses on confidence building as much as academic progress. Every child learns differently — so sessions are personalised, structured, and delivered at a pace that feels safe and manageable.
Steph Teaches began as face‑to‑face tutoring and has grown into a warm, structured online model supporting families across the UK.
Online: 30‑minute sessions — ideal for focused, targeted learning.
A one‑off session to explore your child’s learning style, comfort level, and support needs. There is no obligation to continue — it simply helps us understand what will work best.
You can book by emailing or calling directly. Trial sessions gently assess your child’s learning profile and help identify next steps.
Just a laptop, tablet, or computer with a camera and a stable internet connection. Sessions take place on Google Meet or Zoom — free, simple, and secure. All resources are shared on‑screen or sent in advance.
Please give at least 24 hours’ notice if you need to cancel. Cancellations are not refundable, but rescheduling is possible depending on availability.
Frequent cancellations may affect progress and session priority.
Occasionally I may need to reschedule due to illness or safeguarding priorities. You will always be offered a replacement session or refund. I aim to give at least 24 hours’ notice whenever possible.
I may end a tutoring arrangement if:
A child’s needs fall outside my scope
Behavioural concerns impact emotional safety
Communication becomes consistently unclear or disrespectful
Continuing is no longer in the child’s best interest
You may end tutoring at any time. Sessions are purchased in blocks, so you can simply choose not to book another block. Refunds for unused sessions are considered case‑by‑case with fairness and compassion.
You are always welcome to return in future, subject to availability.
These policies explain how sessions run, how safeguarding is maintained, and what parents can expect when working with Steph Teaches. They are designed to keep all learners safe, supported, and ready to learn.
I always work with a calm, respectful, professional manner — and I expect the same from learners and parents.
Examples include refusal to work, excessive talking, or disengagement. Parents and I work together to support the learner. Persistent behaviour issues may lead to sessions being paused or the tutoring contract ending.
Aggression, swearing, discriminatory language, physical violence, or rude behaviour will result in immediate termination of tutoring with no refund.
If your child has ADHD or another neurodevelopmental condition, please share this before lessons begin so I can plan appropriate strategies.
Recording or filming any part of a lesson is strictly prohibited. This protects privacy and follows GDPR. Any unauthorised recording will result in immediate termination of tutoring with no refund.
Learners should not eat during lessons unless medically required (e.g. diabetes).
Drinks should be in a bottle with a lid.
Learners must be appropriately dressed for all sessions, including online lessons.
Sessions may be cancelled if clothing is not appropriate.
I follow GDPR guidelines to keep your information safe.

Repeated lateness may lead to the tutoring contract ending.
During online lessons, parents may be present in the home but should not participate or distract the learner.
Delivered online via Google Meet, Zoom, or another agreed platform.
Payment is required before sessions begin.
Cancellations with less than 24 hours’ notice cannot be refunded. If I need to cancel, you will be offered a rescheduled session or refund.
I may end tutoring if:

parents can raise concerns directly
issues are handled calmly and professionally
Safeguarding is at the heart of all Steph Teaches sessions.
Every child has the right to feel safe, respected, and supported while learning.
I follow current safeguarding guidance and take all concerns seriously. If a child shares something that suggests they may be at risk, I will:
listen calmly and without judgement
reassure them that they have done the right thing
explain that I may need to share the information with the appropriate safeguarding team
record what was said using the child’s own words
pass the concern to the correct authority so they can keep the child safe
It is not my role to investigate concerns — only to report them.
A responsible adult must be present in the home during online sessions.
All communication and resources are handled with care, professionalism, and respect for privacy.

All learners have the right to feel safe, encouraged, and able to succeed at their own pace.
If your child has any additional needs, diagnoses, or learning differences, please share this so I can plan the most effective support.
